The Story of Windows for Widows
Once upon a time in Oyoko, near Koforidua in Ghana’s Eastern region, Ms. Cynthia Annoh-Dompreh noticed something that would change hundreds of lives—elderly women in her community were struggling to survive.
These widows, who had spent their lives caring for families and contributing to their communities, now found themselves alone, impoverished, and forgotten.
Driven by compassion, Cynthia made a decision. She began spending part of her monthly salary to help these socio-economically disadvantaged women. During Christmas and Easter, she would purchase bags of rice, clothes, cooking oil, soap, toiletries, and blankets to distribute to impoverished widows.
What started as one woman’s personal mission soon inspired others. Friends and coworkers, moved by her kindness and generosity, began contributing donations. The response was overwhelming, and Cynthia’s reach expanded, touching more lives and providing more comprehensive support.
In 2025, that personal commitment became an official movement. Ms. Annoh-Dompreh formally established Windows for Widows (W-4-W) as a non-profit organization, creating a sustainable platform to continue and expand this vital work.
Today, W-4-W continues to be a beacon of hope for hundreds of disadvantaged widows in the Eastern region of Ghana, thanks to the vision and compassion of its founder and a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters.

Our Mision
To provide free material and financial support to impoverished widows in Oyoko and neighboring communities in Ghana's Eastern region, empowering them to live dignified and self-sufficient lives.
Our Vision
A Ghana where all elderly widows, regardless of their economic or social status, have access to the resources and support they need to thrive and contribute to their communities.
Purpose
The organization is formed for any purpose for which a corporation may be organized under the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law as a charitable corporation in the State of New York. Specifically, the purpose of the corporation is to highlight the plight of socio-economically disadvantaged widows in Oyoko and neighboring communities, and solicit material/financial support to alleviate their condition, improving their overall well-being and quality of life.
